Research Competitions
Since 2000, the Global Development Network (GDN) has provided substantial funding to CERGE-EI to help foster empirical, policy-relevant development research by individuals and institutes in developing countries. These funds are intended to strengthen the regional development networks that form the core of the GDN. Each GDN region is given a significant degree of autonomy regarding project structures, budgetary limits and review processes.
The 12th round of the CERGE-EI / GDN Regional Research Competition had its deadline in July 2011. The projects will now go through an extensive review process before decisions are released in December 2011. The next expected deadline for the 2013 academic year will be July 2012. You may download the call for proposals that was issued in spring 2011 for the 12th round to get an idea about what kinds of proposals are sought.

CERGE-EI has been very fortunate to benefit from the expertise of 200+ reviewers in each round of the competition. In particular the Vienna Institute for Economic Studies (WIIW) has been extremely generous each and every year since the competition's launch.
