The following documents and texts show the scope of civil society during the last three years of the communist regime in Czechoslovakia. They have been selected to illustrate the main trends and personalities of anti-totalitarian resistance. The selection, admittedly somewhat one-sided, includes texts of well-known, most distinctive opposition groups, movements, and individuals. All documents were published as a working paper for the international conference “The Democratic Revolution in Czechoslovakia: Its Preconditions, Course and Immediate Aftermath” held in Prague on 14-16 October, 1999.
