MA/PhD Students
The Center for Economic Research and Graduate Education – Economics Institute offers the program of graduate studies in theoretical and applied economics, leading to an MA degree which has an absolute charter issued in the USA and to a PhD degree which has an absolute charter issued in the USA, and is fully accredited in the Czech Republic.
The MA program consists of two years of coursework. The PhD program consists of the MA program followed by two to three years of supervised dissertation research. The working language of the institution is English. CERGE-EI encourages its students to conduct part of their dissertation research at partner institutions in Western Europe and North America, as well as to participate in collaborative research projects in other countries.
CERGE-EI graduates enjoy outstanding job prospects. For example, our alumni have assumed positions in governmental ministries as policy advisors, as chief economists of international banks, as academics at universities and research institutions all over the world, and in multinational corporations. Many of CERGE-EI MA graduates continued with their study in top Ph.D. program in the world such as University of Chicago, Johns Hopkins University, London School of Economics, and University of Minnesota. Other MA graduates have found jobs in central banks, consulting firms, and other government and business organizations.
