Upcoming Events - CERGE-EI's 20th Anniversary
The 2011-2012 academic year will be the 20th anniversary of the founding of the CERGE-EI PhD program. We will have a number of events for both alumni and current students throughout the academic year. If you are interested in learning more about these plans, please visit our blog and join our dedicated alumni groups on Facebook and LinkedIn. Who are CERGE-EI's Alumni?
You are a CERGE-EI alumnus if you fall into any of the following three categories:
a) you are a PhD graduate,
b) you are an MA graduate, or
c) you are a student who successfully completed all second-year field general examinations prior to 2001, which is when when CERGE-EI started issuing MA degrees as part of its State University of New York Charter .
By the summer of 2011, one hundred and fourteen students had earned their PhD degrees from CERGE-EI, while another 149 have earned and MA degree but did not go on for or have not yet completed their PhD. By extending the definition of alumni to include those who successfully completed the coursework portion of the PhD program, we now count approximately well over 300 alumni of our institution from its inception in 1991.
Benefits for Alumni
The CERGE-EI Alumni Network offers users the chance to keep in touch with professors, researchers, and former classmates, and to learn about institutional issues at CERGE-EI. Our alumni are living and working in more than 15 countries around the world, assuming some of the most dynamic and influential positions on offer. Furthermore, with a growing number of PhD graduates we are beginning to see a natural CERGE-EI alumni network of policy advisors, academics and analysts develop. It therefore only makes sense to maintain connections among our alumni.
An important component of a vibrant alumni program is input from alumni themselves. We want to hear from you - what you've been up to since leaving CERGE-EI, information about your current job (feel free to brag!), and any ideas about services that you would like us to offer to alumni. We look forward to your ideas and your participation!
