The Laboratory of Molecular Cytogenetics and Cytometry has been established to study the structure and function of nuclear genome in higher plants. The laboratory is a part of the Institute of Experimental Botany and the Centre of the Region Haná for Biotechnological and Agricultural Research.

The construction of a full set of chromosome-specific BAC libraries for the A genome of bread wheat was completed in December 2011.
7th December 2011 visited our laboratory István Molnár of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. He had a seminar on the topic of Genome analysis of Aegilops sp. and the use of their genetic potential in the wheat prebreeding programmes.
