iDTW is on the web - a version for non-commercial research and educational use

February 1, 2012: By expanding our activities in the framework of the IGCP 580 and 596 projects (UNESCO-IUGS joint programme), we finished (and posted on internet website) a new application which allows users to align (“correlate”) the pattern sequences in stratigraphic and analogical records (signals).

Annotation:
Our goal is to make the computation of the DTW alignment of MS stratigraphic records much more accessible to geoscientists who want to compare (“correlate”) these natural records reliably and with high precision. The publically accessible on-line application may serve also for alignments of well logs or any records from organic and inorganic incremental structures and so forth. The natural effects influencing the records typically produce a considerable degree of uncertainty in both “timing” and “expression” of the rock-material properties (and related signal), i.e., “irregularities and disturbances along both the axes x and y”, and the DTW algorithm is possibly the most effective tool to solve these problems, find an alignment of pattern sequences and, simultaneously, also identify the right sizes and positions of aligned segments of the records.
