Neven Mates

Croatian National Bank

Neven Mates holds Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Zagreb and currently serves as a Chief Advisor to the Governor of Croatian National Bank. Previously, he helped to introduce the first Croatian currency after the declaration of Croatian independence (1991-1992). Through years, Mr. Mates held various managerial positions at the International Monetary Fund such as Division Chief, Advisor in the Front Office, Senior Resident Representative. At the IMF he led missions and program negotiations in emerging market economies, as well. Being principally interested in macroeconomic policy and structural reforms, he has been involved in working on monitoring fiscal, monetary and financial sector policies.
