Oldřich Dědek

Oldřich Dědek was Deputy Director of the Institute of Economics at the Czech National Bank (CNB) in 1993 when the Czechoslovak crown split. He was subsequently appointed Adviser to the Governor of the CNB in 1996 and a member of the Bank's Board of Governors from 1999 to 2005. As an advisor to the Prime Minister of the Czech Republic in 1998, he headed the team who prepared the country's economic strategy for joining the European Union and is currently head of the task force charged with coordination Czech preparations for adoption of the Euro. He is currently a member of the Administrative Board of Charles University, and of the Scientific and Pedagogical Board of the Masaryk Institute of Advanced Studies at the Czech Technical University. He is the author of Break-up of Czechoslovakia: An In-depth Economic Analysis.
