The 4th European Congress of Mammalogy
The 4th European Congress of Mammalogy held in Brno in late July and early August focused primarily on the evolutionary biology of mammals living in the wild, as those animals play a significant role in both humanly unspoiled ecosystems and ecosystems damaged by human activities.
International symposium on plant reproduction: From Mendel to molecular biology
The Moravian metropolis of Brno was also the venue of the International symposium on plant reproduction: From Mendel to molecular biology. The main topic of the event, which attracted some 120 scientists from 20 countries, was plant embryology.
Plasma Physics at Mariánská
The Institute of Plasma Physics held its 3rd scientific and popularising seminar for both researchers and other workers of the institute - Plasma Physics at Mariánská. This time the event concentrated on international co-operation.

Professor Johannes Blümer from the Universität and Forschungszentrum Karlsruhe describes the international project called KATRIN - or the KArlsruhe TRItium Neutrino experiment - in which Czech scientists are also involved and which aims at determining the rest mass of neutrinos.
