Karel Dyba holds Ph.D. in economics and since 2007 he has served as the Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the Czech Republic to the OECD. At the beginning of his professional career he was a Researcher and Senior Researcher at the Institute of Economics of the Czechoslovak Academy of Sciences and in 1990 he became a director there. In the same year he became a Minister of Economic Policy and Development, and later after elections in 1992 he became a Member of Parliament for the Civic Democratic Party, and served as a Minister of Economy. Prior to his current position he gained experience as a private consultant specialising in business, policy and strategy related issues. He also served in the supervisory boards of Komerční banka and České radiokomunikace.
