prof. RNDr. Miroslav Engliš, DrSc.

(born 1964 in Prague)

prof. RNDr. Miroslav Engliš, DrSc. Graduated from Faculty of Mathematics and Physics, Charles University, Prague, in 1987. Received Ph.D. (CSc.) in 1991, “Doctor of Science” (DrSc.) in 2001, succesfully defended his habilitation (“docent”) in 2004, and became full professor in the area of “Mathematical Analysis” in 2006. Since 1991 employed as a researcher in Mathematics Institute of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic. Since 2005 also a faculty member of the Mathematics Institute of the Silesian University in Opava, in 2005–2008 director of this institute. In 2007, Senior Research Fellow at the Erwin Schrödinger Institut für Mathematische Physik in Vienna; numerous other visiting position and shorter invited stays in various institutions worldwide (University of Cambridge, Kansas State University, University of Lund, Helsinki University, Universite de Marseille, Concordia University, Göteborg University, etc.). Authored about 70 publications in the area of functional analysis, complex analysis and geometry, operator theory, and their applications in mathematical physics. Received the Junior Scientist Award (1997) and the Scientist Award (2007) of the Learned Society of the Czech Republic, “ISAAC Award” of the International Society for Analysis, its Applications and Computation (Berlin 2001), “Otto Wichterle Award” of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic (2002), and in 2009 elected a regular member of the Learned Society of the Czech Republic.
