The Center of Biomedical Research

Institute of Physiology, Academy of Sciences, Prague, Czech Republic

The Center of Biomedical Research was established at the Institute of Physiology as a project supported by the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports of the Czech Republic with support from the EU funds (CZ.1.07/2.3.00/30.0025). For the duration of this project (June 1, 2012 - May 31, 2015) eight postdoctoral scientists in their early careers will work in different laboratories at the Institute of Physiology with the possibility to proceed with their work in the modern Biotechnology Institute in Prague . The goal of this project is to establish new highly motivated scientific teams with strong international cooperation.

The Center of Biomedical Research will also organize methodological courses of new techniques in three areas of biomedical research (Basics of Biomaterials Development, Function and Structure of Cell Membranes, Basics of Receptor Neurophysiology) for university students from out-of-Prague locations, especially for the students from the Jan Evangelista Purkyně University in Ústí nad Labem, University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice and Technical University of Liberec. This activity will expand their knowledge in the area of biomedical research and will enable their possible cooperation with the research groups at the Biomedical Research Center, Institute of Physiology and BIOCEV.
