 T he Masters of Applied Economics (MAE) is an intensive, empirically based 12-month full-time program taught in English. It enables students to obtain a modern economic education and gain the essential skills demanded by local and international employers.

The MAE program is designed for ambitious students who want to get a first-class MA education and enhance their skills in economics. The MAE allows students to pursue a career in economics, finance, or other fields in international institutions or businesses. Graduates receive a U.S. MA degree under an absolute charter granted by the State of New York.

 

International Faculty

CERGE-EI faculty includes scholars from a variety of countries. Professors hold PhDs from top institutions including Princeton; Johns Hopkins; Stanford; the Universities of Chicago, Virginia, Minnesota, and Michigan; the London School of Economics; and University College London.

Student Diversity

CERGE-EI students come from more than 25 countries. Their diverse academic backgrounds include economics, mathematics, physics, engineering, information technology, sociology and law.

Successful Graduates

CERGE-EI graduates hold high-level positions in 21 countries worldwide. Employers include international organizations (e.g. The World Bank, IMF, EBRD, ILO, UNDP, and OECD), government ministries, central banks, universities, and the private sector (e.g. McKinsey, BCG, Moody, Deloitte, Altria, Citibank, and Raiffeisenbank). Rankings

The Social Science Research Network(SSRN) ranks CERGE-EI in the top 4 percent of 1,236 research institutions worldwide. Research Papers in Economics (RePEc) ranks CERGE-EI in the top 6 percent of economic departments/research institutions in Europe. CERGE-EI has been recognized as a Center of Excellence by both the European Union and the US government.
