The objective of the project is to find out, by means of numerical simulations and experimental verification, distance limits for transmission at 10Gbit/s over standard single mode fibre (G.652) and links composed of standard single mode fibres and non-zero dispersion shifted single mode fibres (G.655, NZ-DSF) without the deployment of in-line amplifiers.
