Organized by the European Commission with the support of the Czech Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports between 6-8 May in Prague and under the auspices of the EU Czech Presidency, Research Connection 2009 was one of the hottest tickets of the research year.
"There is no alternative to better collaboration in European Research”, says EU Research Commissioner Janez Potočnik. "We are facing new threats, and new global challenges. It is up to us within the research community – both the "new" and "old", the "big" and "small" Member States – to adapt and build a new sustainable and profitable research ecosystem in the EU. We need to connect”. Over two days, some 2,000 scientists, industrialists, researchers and politicians were connecting to discuss the future of research and science in Europe and ways of improvement through collaboration.
