Development of measurement methods and interpretation procedures

Activity comes from joint topic with prof. Lyubushin (Institute of Physics of the Earth Russian AS in Moscow) and usage of historic mine Jeroným in Cista near Marianske lazne as of a natural laboratory for research of new measurements methods (in cooperation with VSB – TU Ostrava). First part of the topic is directed towards development of experimental mathematical methods for processing of measured data (e.g. using of wavelet transformation and cluster analysis for interpretation of seismological data). First results indicate the possibility of using wavelet transformation for automatic classification of digital records of seismic events. There are being developed hardware and software media for measuring of geomechanical quantities to consider the stability of mine Jeroným. Currently quarterly readings are done, in experimental operation is measuring of changes of mine-water-level (on two places) and seismological monitoring. Under development is measuring of convergences, movement of blocks along cracks and measuring of stress in massif using conical probe with strain gauges.
