Projekt: Electromagnetic phenomena coupling the troposphere, mesosphere, ionosphere and magnetosphere
The purpose of the proposed project is to investigate the coupling, mainly electromagnetic, between the Earth"s atmosphere and near space environment. This includes the study of electric discharges in the atmosphere like lightning, sprites, jets, terrestrial gamma ray flashes and their electromagnetic radiation. We would like to improve our understanding of these phenomena and waves that are generated during these discharges, including the propagation in the Earth-ionosphere waveguide, penetration the ionosphere, propagation in the magnetosphere and interaction with the energetic particles of radiation belts. We participate in the development of high frequency analyzer for French satellite TARANIS. We are going to test and operate similar instrument on the ground. The participation in TARANIS mission will ensure our access to data from other instruments. We are also going to continue analysing data from current satellites DEMETER and CLUSTER, focusing on man made signals (PLHR, VLF transmitters,..) and natural emissions and their interaction with plasma environment of the Earth.
