Czech Liaison Office for Research and Development celebrated 7th anniversary
On the occasion of the celebration that took place on 30 May 2012 at the Permanent Representation of the Czech Republic to the EU in Brussels under the title “Seven Years of CZELO – 7 presentations – 7 minutes each”, six Czech centres of excellence financially supported from the Operational Programme Research and Development for Innovation (OP VaVpI) and one project demonstrating the synergies between Structural Funds and 7th Framework Programme presented themselves to more than 130 interested participants.
The guests were officially welcomed by Permanent Representative of the Czech Republic to the EU, Ambassador Milena Vicenová, who stressed that CZELO is already well established in Brussels. She appreciated that a number of events on different research topics were organized by CZELO together with the Czech Permanent Representation.
The bloc of seven presentations followed:
1. VÁCLAV HOŘEJŠÍ, Chairman of the BIOCEV Board, (Biotechnology and Biomedicine Centre of the Academy of Sciences and Charles University in Vestec)
2. MARTIN DUDA, Strategic Development Director, IT4INNOVATIONS (High Performance Computing Centre), Ostrava
3. MARTIN RUŠČÁK, Director of Research Centre Řež, SUSEN (Sustainable Energy)
4. MICHAL V. MAREK, Director, CZECHGLOBE (Global Change Research Centre), Brno
5. VLADIMÍR PAVLÍNEK, Director, CPS (Centre of Polymer Systems), Zlín
6. PAVEL NOVÁK, Director, NTIS (New Technologies for Information Society), Pilsen
7. ZLATUŠE NOVOTNÁ, SYLICA project Manager, CEITEC – synergies between structural funds (ERDF) and FP7
On behalf of the Czech Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports, the director of the Department for Funding of International R&D Programmes Josef Janda appreciated that CZELO has been successfully facilitating the integration of Czech research teams into the international cooperation and has become a recognized member of the Informal Group of Liaison Offices (IGLO) as well.
In his closing speech, the Director of the Technology Centre of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic (TC ASCR) Karel Klusáček mentioned that CZELO is an integral part of TC ASCR and a key partner for Czech researchers in Brussels. He expressed his sincere thanks not only to the Czech ministry for its financial support and continuous encouragement, but also to the highly committed CZELO team for its excellent work and first-class representation of the Czech Republic.
