Juraj Stančík: “EU ICT R&D Investment Gap (A Company Level Analysis)”Room 3, 2nd floor Abstract: In this paper we characterize the evolution of the R&D intensity gap between EU and non-EU firms, with the intent to better understand changes in the relative position of the EU vis-à-vis its major world competitors (US, Japan, China, Brazil, India, Russia, Korea and Taiwan). We also look at a within EU decomposition and we find that the firms from the newly added countries tend to have an R&D intensity that is smaller than the one observed for companies belonging to the EU15 countries. However, given the small relative size of such companies, the time profile for R&D intensity for EU15 and for EU22 is basically identical. Hence, in the paper we concentrate on EU22. |
