Lubomír Lízal is an Associate Professor with tenure at CERGE-EI (under US permanent charter) since 2004 and a member of the Executive and Supervisory Committee of CERGE-EI (since 2003). He is also a Docent (Associate Professor) at CERGE, Charles University and a Senior Researcher at the Economics Institute of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic (EI) since 2009. Since March 2011 he is on leave as a member of the Bank Board of the Czech National Bank. Graduated from Czech Technical University in Prague, Faculty of Electrical Engineering in 1992. Received his master´s degree in Systems Programming and Electronic Computers. Defended his Ph.D. at CERGE, Charles University in 1998. From 2002 to 2003 Deputy Director for Research at CERGE and EI. July 2003 – December 2008 the Director of CERGE and EI. At CERGE-EI (under US permanent charter) he was a holder of the Citigroup Endowment during Fall 2002 – Spring 2011. Held fellowships at the Tinbergen Institute, Amsterdam in 1992; at the University of Pittsburgh, 1994–1995; and at the William Davidson Institute at the University of Michigan, 1996–1997 and 2000–2001. Short-term Consultant for the World Bank in 1994 and 2000. Member of the European Economic Association, and Česká ekonomická společnost (Czech Economic Society), and a William Davidson Institute Research Fellow.
Research orientation:
Applied econometrics, applied microeconomics, economics of transition, firm behavior, environmental economics.
