Jan Zápal is an Assistant Professor at CERGE-EI (under U.S. permanent charter) on leave. He received his Master´s degree from Institute of Economic Studies from Charles University in Prague in 2005 and a Ph.D. degree from London School of Economics and Political Science in 2012. Since 2012 he is a Post-doctoral Fellow at IAE-CSIC, Barcelona. From 2010 to 2011 he was a Visiting Student Researcher at Californian Institute of Technology. In 2007 and 2008 he held Economica Scholarship awarded by the LSE Department of Economics and in 2008 he won the first prize in the Young Economist of the Year competition organized by the Czech Economic Society.
Research orientation:
Political economics, economic theory, dynamic bargaining models, effect of status-quo and its determination in the context of group decision making, information acquisition by the agents in economic models, especially in the context of electoral competition and group decision making under uncertainty.
