Jan Bena graduated from CERGE, Charles University in August 2006, where he received his Ph.D. in Economics. From 2004 till 2006 he was a Junior Researcher at the Economics Institute of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic. Since 2007 he is a Post-doctoral Fellow at the Economics Institute of the Academy of Sciences. In June 2009, he received his Ph.D. in Finance from the London School of Economics and Political Science. Since July 2009, he is an Assistant Professor of finance at the Sauder School of Business, the University of British Columbia.
Research orientation:
Interaction between financial and real economic systems; finance and innovation; finance and product market competition; and access to external finance and financial constraints.
