The objective is research of new multilayered structures aiming to an increase of resolution, multiplexation and robustness of already existing sensors with surface plasmons. First, the possibility of implementation of a special type of surface plasmon with low losses will be investigated. Its narrower spectral response should enable encoding of more measured channels into one spectral response and, at the same time, increase the sensitivity of the sensor. The possibility of employing other types of guided waves will be also considered in order to investigate new methods of suppression of parasitic phenomena accompanying the measurement (self-reference). Such a multichannel sensor with self-reference might be used for real-time detection of bacteria, viruses, hormones and drugs.
