doc. PhDr. Radomír  Vlček, CSc. Radomír Vlček completed the study of history with honours at the Faculty of Philosophy of Brno University in 1981, receiving the degree of PhDr (philosophiae doctor) in the same year. In 1982 he began an internal post-graduate study stay at the former Czechoslovak Academy of Sciences (CSAS). In 1987, he defended his thesis for the degree of CSc. (candidate of sciences) entitled "The Interest of Russian Positivistic Historiography in Socially-Economic Problems of History in Comparison with Czech and Polish Historiography". In the years 1988–1990 he was a scholar at the Institute of Slavonic Studies of the CSAS in Brno. From 1990–1993 he worked at the Brno branch of the Institute of the History of Central and Eastern Europe of the CSAS. From 1992–1993 he headed the Brno branch of the Institute of the History of Central and Eastern Europe and was a member of the Scientific Council of this Institute. Since 1993 he has been a scholar at the Institute of History of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic (ASCR). Since 1996 he has headed the Brno branch of the Institute of History of ASCR, since 1998 he has been the Vice-Chairman of the Scientific Council of this Institute and an elected member of ASCR’s Academy Assembly. Since 1990 he has lectured on the general history of modern times, the history of Russia and the history of Poland at the Faculty of Philosophy, Masaryk University in Brno. He is a member of several examination and evaluation commissions at the Faculty of Philosophy and the Pedagogical Faculty of Masaryk University, and a member of professional councils for general history. In 2001 he qualified as Associate Professor in general history at the Faculty of Philosophy of Masaryk University in Brno.

Doc. Dr. Vlček´s main research subject is the general history of modern times. He is oriented especially to the history of Slavism, Pan-Slavism and Russian-Czech relations in a wider European context. He is the author of a series of scientific essays, reviews and studies concerning scientific life, and co-author of several teaching texts. Since 1992 he has been on the editorial boards of the journals Slovanský přehled (Slavonic Survay), Slavonic Historical Studies (since 2004 the editor-in-chief), and since 1994 of the Slovak Collection, Slovanské štúdie (Slavonic Studies). In addition, he is a member of the Scientific Councils of the Faculty of Philosophy and Arts, Charles University in Prague and the Faculty of Philosophy of Masaryk University in Brno. Since 2002 he has been the Vice-Chairman of the Council of the South Moravian Institutes of ASCR. Over the years, he has participated in organizing a series of national and international scientific meetings and workshops.
