Tuning fundamental properties of corroles for utilization in energy and medicine applications

Institute Seminar

Abstract:

Metallocorroles are receiving increased interest in recent years due to the exceptional properties that the trianionic corrole macrocycle induces onto metal ions chelated by it. This includes the strong reducing power of trivalent metals and the large stability of higher oxidation states. These features are responsible for the large utility of metallocorroles for prime importance aspects relevant to energy and medicine, such as the activation of small molecules: O2, CO2, H+, H2O2, HOONO, and more. This lecture will describe how to tune the chemical and photophysical features of corroles and the corresponding metal complexes for achieving superior performances in various applications.
