Probing Strong Gravity by Black Holes Across the Range of Masses
This five year EU-FP7 project brings together scientists from seven top European research institutions and universities, including the Astronomical Institute in Prague, who are experts in black-hole astrophysics. The aim is to improve our understanding of these objects and of processes that the place in their vicinity by improved modelling as well as by a systematic analysis of high quality X-ray observations with the use of newly developed models. Polarisation as a tool to study Solar system and beyondEuropean cooperation in science and technology: COST Action MP1104. (2012–2015).
Black Holes in a Violent UniverseEuropean cooperation in science and technology: COST Action MP0905. (2010–2014).
Active galactic nuclei and Galactic black holesEuropean Space Agency research project Plan for European Cooperating States (PECS, 2007–2011). Our goal in this project is to further develop and extend mainly theoretical modeling of radiation processes near accreting black holes.
Center for Theoretical AstrophysicsOur group participates in activities of the Center for Theoretical Astrophysics (CTA, 2006–2010). Mission of CTA is to conduct a top-level research in the field of physics of compact objects, physics of galaxies, and the cosmic environment. We also carry out graduate teaching in these subjects.
