How to get to and from the conference venue

1 – By public transit from the airport

Taking public transit is the cheapest way to get to and from Prague airport. One ride costs 26 CZK (45 CZK on the Airport Express bus – for information on this option see below) and the transit system is quite easy to use.

Tickets

The Prague public transit system offers two types of tickets:

• Single ticket (single use (i.e. no transfers)/short ride) – 18 CZK

This ticket can only be used one time on one type of transportation. It is valid for 20 minutes from time of validation on trams and buses or to travel the distance of 5 subway stops, with transfers allowed between subway stations (e.g. from line A to line B) for up to 30 min. of total time of use. This ticket is not valid on night trams or buses or on the Petřín funicular or on ferries.

• Transfer ticket (multiple use/long ride) – 26 CZK

This ticket can be used on any type of public transportation and allows transfers between lines (subway to subway, tram to tram, etc.) and types of transport (subway to tram, tram to bus, etc.) for up to 75 min. from time of validation.
Single and transfer tickets are sold from the yellow ticket vending machines (instructions also in English; payment by coins only), at ticket offices located at some metro stations, at a Tabák/Trafika and some newsstands, and at tourist information centers. A ticket must be punched at the entrance to the metro station and on the tram/bus to mark the start of the validation period.

Buses are the only means of public transit that service Ruzyně airport. The following buses run to and from Prague airport:

Bus 119: Airport - Metro Line A (Dejvická) – Metro Line C (Hlavní nádraží)

Bus 119 runs between the Ruzyně Airport and Dejvická metro station (metro line A). This bus is the best choice if your destination is in the historical center of Prague (the Old Town, Lesser Town, New Town, Prague Castle area) or anywhere along line A of the metro including in the Vinohrady or Žižkov districts. The bus connections run every 7 to 20 minutes and the ride takes 23 minutes.

Taking Bus 119 from the airport:

Bus 119 departs from outside the Arrivals terminal and runs from around 4.15 in the morning until around 0.10 at night. It will take you to the Dejvická metro station (a terminus station). From there, you can take the metro using the same ticket to continue to your destination. The metro will get you to the center in no time (2 - 4 stops, depending on where you're going). To get close to the conference venue, take metro line A to Museum state and there change to line C and go just one stop to metro station Hlavní nádraží.

Taking Bus 119 to the airport:
Take metro line A to Dejvická station. Bus 119 leaves from near the station exit and runs from around 5.00 in the morning until around 0.30 at night. The airport is at the end of the line and the bus stops at all the terminals - 1, 2 and 3. Announcements are made in English at the terminals.

Bus 100: Airport - Metro Line B (Zličín)

Bus 100 runs between Ruzyně airport and Zličín metro station (metro line B). Take this bus if your destination is near any of the metro stations on line B, for example, in the New Town (Nové Město) or Smíchov districts. The bus runs every 15 minutes during the day and every 30 minutes after 7 p.m. The ride takes 16 minutes.

Taking Bus 100 from the airport:

Bus 100 leaves from outside the Arrivals terminal and runs from 5.45 in the morning until 23.39 at night. It will take you to the Zličín metro station (a terminus station). From there, you can take the metro using the same ticket to continue to your destination. Once you get on the metro, expect the ride to take about 20 minutes (11 - 13 stops) to get you into the center. Some important metro stations on the route are: Anděl - Smíchov District, Karlovo náměstí - Charles Square, Národní třída - Národní Avenue, Můstek - bottom of Wenceslas Square, Náměstí Republiky - Republic Square, Florenc – the main bus station.

Taking Bus 100 to the airport:

Take line B of the metro to Zličín and get on bus 100, which runs from 5.30 in the morning until 23.50 at night. The airport is at the end of the line and the bus stops at all the terminals - 1, 2 and 3.

Airport Express: Airport - Main Train Station (Hlavní nádraží)

The Airport Express is a special bus that connects Ruzyně Airport to the Main Train Station (Hlavní nádraží), which is on metro line C. The Airport Express bus is scheduled to coincide with the arrivals and departures of SuperCity (Pendolino), EuroCity and InterCity trains. A ticket costs 50 CZK and covers the Airport - Main Train Station route.

Find a connection in Prague online, you can look up bus schedules at dpp.cz

2 - By Taxi to and from the airport

When you come out of the arrivals terminal, you will see several taxi stands along the curb, run by different companies. They are all clearly marked and easy to distinguish.

We recommend that you take AAA Radiotaxi. You should expect to pay around 500 - 600 CZK to get from Prague airport to the center. Their cars will probably be readily available at the curb. If not, you can talk to someone at the AAA information booth located in the arrivals terminal or call the dispatch center at 140 14 or 222 333 222 (English spoken) and a car will pull up within minutes.

Another good Prague taxi company is City Taxi, but they don't have a stand at the airport at the moment. You can call them at 257 257 257 (English spoken).

Unfortunately, Prague’s taxi drivers have scarred the city’s reputation. Although there have been improvements (and the City of Prague is working on it), many Prague taxi drivers are still as rude and dishonest as ever and will try to take advantage of you if you are a foreigner and "don't know the ropes". Luckily, there are more and more reputable taxi companies that you can rely on for good service and fair rates.

To avoid difficulties, here is a list of reliable and courteous taxi companies:

AAA Radiotaxi - tel. 140 14 or 222 333 222, www.aaa-taxi.cz
City Taxi - tel. 257 257 257, www.citytaxi.cz
Profi Taxi - tel. 140 35 or 2 61 31 41 51, www.profitaxi.cz
Halotaxi - tel. 244 114 411, www.halotaxi.cz
Sedop - tel. 777 666 333, www.sedop.cz
