NFKJ NEURON Awards for Jan Švejnar and Jakub Steiner

Professor Švejnar won the NEURON 2012 Award for his lifetime achievement in Economics, granted by the Karel Janeček Foundation in Support of Science and Research. Together with other laureates, Prof. Švejnar gave a speech not only on his profound research in the area of enterprise performance, but also about his career beginnings and interesting aspects of academic life.

Jakub Steiner was granted the NEURON 2012 Award for young Economics researchers under the age of 40. A CERGE-EI graduate, Jakub had for several years practiced game-theoretic research at the University of Edinburgh and the Northwestern University, before returning to CERGE-EI last September.

Karel Janeček is the founder of RSJ, a brokerage firm that has supported CERGE-EI students since 2008. His endowment fund's mission focuses on supporting young Czech academics returning from abroad to pursue research careers.

 

Faculty Research on International Scientist Migration Cited in Prestigious Weekly

Assistant Professor Patrick Gaulé, who joined the CERGE-EI faculty this academic year, has been mentioned in an article in Nature, an international weekly journal of science.

New European Employment Observatory Newsletter

The European Employment Observatory (EEO) has just published its regular newsletter covering developments in employment policy at the EU level. The newsletter is published in cooperation with CERGE-EI and ICF GHK consultancy. EEO is supported by a network of national labour market experts (SYSDEM network) from leading independent research institutions in the EEO countries, and the Czech Republic is represented by CERGE-EI faculty member Daniel Münich.

CERGE-EI Welcomes New Assistant Professor Patrick Gaulé

We are delighted to welcome Patrick Gaulé who has joined CERGE-EI as an Assistant Professor in September. He is an an applied microeconomist specialized in the economics of science and innovation. Check out his research here on his personal site.
