Seminar / Tue, 23/04/2013 - 10:00 - 11:00

Dr. Ing. Klaus Kuhnen (Corporate Research Department, Electrodynamics and Drives, Robert Bosch GmbH, Germany)

Seminar / Mon, 29/04/2013 - 13:00 - 14:00

Huibing Mao (East China Normal University, Shanghai, China)

In the semiconductor microstructure there are two different modes: Fabry-Perot modes and whispering gallery modes. In the band-edge region, there are strong coupling between the exciton and the confined photon, which will lead a quasi-particle: polariton. In a ZnO semiconductor nanobelt with a transverse size of m, more than 20 modes are observed in the band-edge region, and more than 60 modes are observed in the visible region. The theoretical results demonstrate that in the band-edge region the luminescence modes are determined by the polariton modes.

Seminar / Tue, 07/05/2013 - 10:00 - 11:00

Igor P. Raevski (Southern Federal University, Rostov-on-Don, Russia)

One of the promising ways of designing new single-phase multiferroic materials is adjusting the temperatures of both ferroelectric and magnetic phase transitions by ion substitutions in the host compound to obtain the maximal magnetoelectric coupling. The aim of the present talk is a brief review of the recent studies of both ferroelectric and magnetic phase transitions in some Fe containing ternary perovskite multiferroics, especially PbFe0.5B0.5O3 (B-Nb, Ta, Sb) and related solid solutions.

The Institute of Physics AS CR hosts a multidisciplinary symposium, joining together five otherwise independent regular meetings (IUS, ISAF, IFCS, EFTF, PFM) that are all devoted to various applications of piezoelectric materials. The event is organized on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the UFFC (Ultrasonics, Ferroelectrics, and Frequency Control society).

More details can be found on the symposium website.
