Projects of the OP Education for Competitiveness

Project OP EC 1

Project title:
Research and Development of femtosecond Laser Systems and Advanced Optical Technologies

Project coordinator: Bedřich Rus

Project period: 1/6/2011 – 31/5/2014

Annotation:
The main objective of the project is to build 2 new research teams led by highly qualified reintegrated Czech scientists from prestigious foreign scientific research institutions focused on laser technology and related fields (Rutherford Appleton Laboratory – Great Britain and CERN – Switzerland). The activities of both research teams will contribute to the transfer of unique know-how in laser technologies towards target groups of scientific and research staff, PhD and undergraduate students working in institutions outside of capital city of Prague. Knowledge transfer will be realized by organizing seminars/workshops and professional excursions. Realized activities play significant role in building expertise in the International Laser Centre ELI (Extreme Light Infrastructure).

Project OP EC 2

Project title:
Research and Development of New Ways of Radiation Generation and Charged Particle production by Ultra-Intense Laser Fields

Project coordinator: Karel Rohlena

Project period: 1/6/2011 – 31/5/2014

Annotation:
The main objective of the project is to build 2 new research teams led by 2 prominent foreign scientists from prestigious scientific research institutions (MPQ and DESY, Germany) focused on research and application of very strong electromagnetic fields generated by femtosecond class lasers. The activities of both research teams will contribute to the transfer of unique know-how in the field of physics of very intense light fields and their application in the generation of qualitatively new sources of X-rays and accelerated charged particles. Target groups are scientific and research staff, PhD and undergraduate students working in institutions outside of capital city of Prague. Knowledge transfer will be realized by organizing seminars/workshops and professional excursions. Realized activities play significant role in building expertise in the International Laser Centre ELI (Extreme Light Infrastructure).

Project OP EC 3

Project title:
Development and applications of high intensity laser driven X-ray pulses and proton beams

Project coordinator: Josef Krása

Project period: 1/5/2012 – 30/4/2015
Project registry number: CZ.1.07/2.3.00/20.0279

Annotation:
The aim of the project is to build a highly qualified research team which will be focused on the newest current trends in the fields of Development and applications of high intensity laser driven X-ray sources and proton beams for the purpose of the basic research and for advanced applications (for example in material, biomolecular and medical sciences).

The teams will be led by excellent researchers from Great Britain (Queen’s University) and France (LOA-ESTA). These researchers will implement their own Research and Development activities and will enhance the internal basement for education of young researchers in the field.

Knowledge transfer to target groups will be realized through seminars, workshops and professional excursions at Universities and Institutions outside of the capital city of Prague. Realized activities play significant role in building expertise in the International Laser Centre ELI (Extreme Light Infrastructure).

Project OP EC 4

Project title:
Strengthening capacity of research teams in the field of physical sciences

Project period: 1/7/2012 – 30/6/2015
Project registry number: CZ.1.07/2.3.00/30.0057

Annotation:
The aim of the project is to strengthen the current research team in the field of physical sciences, creation of working position for postdoctoral fellows and their integration within these teams. 11 postdoctoral fellows will be chosen by proper tenders and will work on research and development tasks of synergy projects ELI and HiLASE.

The main objective of the project is the transfer of knowledge and know-how from postdoctoral fellows to the target groups through the complex educational program at Univeristies and Research Institutions.
