Topic Fluorescent labeled antimicrobial peptides: Synthesis and application for the study of action mechanism
Faculty FCHT / FPBT VŠCHT, PřF UK
Abstract

Antimicrobial peptides (AMPs) represent new hope in the fight against resistant pathogenic bacteria. Several novel peptides possessing potent antimicrobial activities were recently discovered in our laboratory. The topic of the PhD study will comprise the synthesis of AMPs by the method of solid phase peptide synthesis and then their modifications with different fluorescent labels (fluorescein, tetramethylrhodamine). The interactions of fluorescent labeled AMPs with bacterial cell membrane and with the membrane of eukaryotic cells will be studied by fluorescent microscopy.
