This issue features an essay on the role of science in nowadays world by Professor Jürgen Mittelstrass, a renowned European philosopher of science. From 1970 to 2005, he was a full-time professor of philosophy of science at University of Konstanz. Professor Jürgen Mittelstrass is one of the editors of the Enzyklopädie Philosophie und Wissenschaftstheorie (1980–1996) and a member of numerous scientific and philosophical societies. He has received honourable Ph.D. degrees from four universities.
