Fromphotochemistry in clusters to ozone depletion

This month we feature an article by Michal Fárník, head researcher of the Academy’s Molecular and Cluster Dynamics Group at the J. Heyrovský Institute of Physical Chemistry of the ASCR. This group was created around a new molecular-beam apparatus purchased from the Max-Planck Institute for Dynamics and Self-Organization in Gottingen and recently transported to Prague. This experimental device combines molecular beams, single collision scattering and laser techniques for molecular cluster studies. In addition, a new experiment for ion imaging studies of photodissociation has been constructed in the laboratory. Itsmain research interest is the dynamics of various chemical and physical processes studied at the molecular level.
