The suggested project includes the gathering, selection and elaboration of primary source materials concerning the history of Czech electrochemistry during the years 1882-1989. Czech electrochemistry, a part of physical chemistry as a science branch, attained the highest world level represented by the Nobel Prize for chemistry awarded to Prof. Jaroslav Heyrovský in 1959. Heyrovský was the founder of the electrochemical school. Investigation will include research in the archives of Czech and foreign universities, the Archive of ASCR, plus other institutions that may keep materials on distinguished Czech electrochemists. The oral history method will be applied, too, with witnesses and senior electrochemists as narrators. The research will result in an essay on the history of Czech electrochemistry, which has been hitherto lacking in professional historical literature.
