CERGE-EI offers graduate education in economics taught in English to students from emerging market countries. Its Master’s and PhD programs attract students from Central and Eastern Europe, the Commonwealth of Independent States, and the South Caucasus, amongst others. CERGE-EI alumni hold high-level positions in international organizations, governmental ministries, central banks, universities, and the private sector. Financial aid packages are available to most students.

PhD Program
CERGE-EI offers a US-style PhD program consisting of 2 years of course work followed by a dissertation. Students receive an American MA degree after their courses. They often conduct part of their research at top universities abroad. The program is designed for students holding a Master’s degree in economics or related fields, and for highly talented, well-trained Bachelor graduates.

MAE Program
The Master’s of Applied Economics (MAE) is a twelve month program
providing a rigorous economics education and the analytical skills required by international employers. The MAE is for students with a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree who want an economics degree without the advanced math required in the PhD or JME programs.

JME Program
The Joint Master’s in Economics (JME) program is a cooperative effort of CERGE-EI and IES at Charles University in Prague. It combines MA courses at CERGE-EI with Master’s-level courses at IES. This program is designed for students holding Bachelor's degrees who want to obtain scientific training in economics possibly leading to a PhD.
