Pending final approval by the European Research Council up to 4 years Ph.D. student position is available within the framework of the ERC Advanced Grant Feasibility, logic and randomness in computational complexity under the direction of Professor Pavel Pudlák. See description of the project.
Applications are invited from candidates who have completed or will complete their master degree in Mathematics, or Theoretical Computer Science before December 30, 2013, and who have good knowledge of mathematical logic and/or computational complexity. At least basic knowledge of English is required.

Starting date: 01 January 2014

A position is available for a Research Fellow to work at one of the topics developed in the Institute of Mathematics AS CR. The post would be suitable for a mathematician or another specialist with a strong background in mathematics. This is a full-time fixed term contract appointment, on the internal salary scale at a level commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Starting date: 01 January 2014
Requirements: PhD degree in mathematics or in a related discipline, motivation for research, cooperation potential; previous research experience is welcome.
The application should contain:

  1. CV.
  2. Letter of motivation with a brief description of applicant's research interests and concepts of cooperation inside and outside the institute.
  3. Three recommendation letters – at most one from the Institute of Mathematics and at most one from the applicant's current affiliation. The referees should send their recommendations directly to the above E-mail address.
  4. In case that the applicant has not obtained his/her PhD before the application deadline, he/she has to produce evidence that the thesis is submitted and a date of the defense is settled.

A Visiting Scholar position is available in the Institute of Mathematics AS CR in Prague in 2014, with the duration of the contract from six to twelve months.
Requirements: PhD degree in mathematics or in a related discipline, motivation for research, cooperation potential; recent PhD‘s will receive special attention.
