The Institute of Thermomechanics is a scientific and research institution of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic (Research Area of Mathematics, Physics and Earth Sciences > Section of Applied Physics). The Institute conducts interdisciplinary basic research in fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, dynamics of mechanical systems, solid mechanics, interactions of fluids and solids, environmental aerodynamics, biomechanics, mechatronics, electrophysics, electrical machines, drives and power electronics and material diagnostics.

Topical Problems of Fluid Mechanics 2012

Professor Valouch awarded IEEE PES Chapter Outstanding Engineer Award 2011


The Czechoslovak section of the IEEE Power & Energy Society (PES) has awarded the PES Chapter Outstanding Engineer Award 2011 to professor Viktor Valouch from the Institute of Thermomechanics ASCR for his excellent performance in the fields of active filters in the industrial network and education of young power engineers.

Summer School and Workshop Fluid-Structure Interaction for Biomedical Applications

Dr. Radka Kellnerová awarded prize for best young authors' presentation at PHYSMOD 2011

Dr. Radka Kellnerová was awarded the prize for best young authors' presentation at the PHYSMOD 2011 conference held in Hamburg on August 22-24, 2011 for her paper entitled Proper orthogonal decomposition of velocity and vorticity field within the street canyon and wavelet analysis of the expansion coefficients.
