CERGE-EI Faculty Member Appointed to Czech National Bank Board
February 9, 2011
Lubomír Lízal, Citigroup Endowment Professor at CERGE-EI and 1998 PhD alumnus, was appointed to be a member of the Bank Board of the Czech National Bank by President Václav Klaus in a ceremony at Prague Castle on February 8, 2011.
He will begin his six-year term next week. The Bank Board is the highest-level governing body of the bank and is responsible for taking decisions on monetary policy and on measures in the financial market supervision area. One of CERGE-EI's key goals since it was established in 1991 was to rigorously prepare the next generation of economists to help develop competent public policy through central banks, governmental ministries and universities. CERGE-EI welcomes the news of his appointment and wishes him the best of luck in this new challenge.
