The biennial Charles Barrett Award has been established in 1986 to recognize outstanding contributions to the field of powder diffraction. Among recipients of the Barrett Award are the well-known names in the field of powder diffraction such as Juan Rodriques-Carvajal, Robert Von Dreele and Hugo Rietveld. This August Václav Petříček from Institute of Physics ASCR has received this award as the first recipient from the Czech Republic.
On October 18th, 2012, the Grant Agency of the Czech Republic Prize was awarded to Dr. Oleksandr Stupakov from the Institute of Physics of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic for the individual postdoctoral project "Development of a new system for measurement of open-circuit ferromagnetic samples with controlled magnetization waveform".

On June 20th, 2011, Josef Hlavka Prize was awarded to
Prof. Dr. Ivan Pelant
from the Institute of Physics of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic and to associate Prof. Dr. Jan Valenta from the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics of Charles University in Prague.
RNDr. Jan Čermák, PhD. has received award at the 3rd International Forum on Multidisciplinary Education and Research for Energy Science, held from 9th to 14th December 2010 on Ishigaki Island, Okinawa, Japan.
