CERGE-EI ESC Member Alan Krueger Nominated as Chair of US Council of Economic Advisers
CERGE-EI ESC Member Alan B. Krueger was nominated earlier today to chair Council of Economic Advisers (CEA) by US President Barack Obama. The CEA is the US Government's highest economic-policy making body. Professor Kruger joined the CERGE-EI ESC in November 2010 after leaving prior government service as Assistant Secretary of the Treasury for Economic Policy.

Alumni Working Paper Wins 2011 LIS Aldi Hagenaars Memorial Award
Lubomira Anastasova-Chirmiciu (PhD 2010) has recently won the 2011 Aldi Hagenaars Memorial Award by the Luxembourg Income Study (LIS) Cross-National Data Center for her LIS Working Paper titled “Are Immigrants Paid Less for Education?”.

New Alumni Research Featured on VoxEU.org
Second year PhD student Jakub Matějů (MA expected, 2011) co-authored a paper titled "How Are Inflation Targets Set?" with Czech National Bank Research Department colleague Roman Horváth. Their article was posted on June 22 on the popular and influential VoxEU.org website, which features cutting-edge research on a variety of European and global economic issues.

CERGE-EI Welcomes New Students to the Preparatory Semester
We are delighted to welcome new students who just arrived for the Preparatory semester of the MA/PhD program. This year there are about 60 students from nearly 20 countries taking part in it.

Prague Economic Meeting at CERGE-EI with Lubos Pastor and Adam Szeidl
The Prague Economic Meeting academic conference took place at CERGE-EI on June 16-18. The conference, co-organized by CERGE-EI, think-tank ISEA, and non-profit organization Virtual Scientific Organization, attracted 40 researchers from many countries and gave young researchers in particular an opportunity to present their unpublished results and discuss their ideas with their colleagues.
