The paper is based on research of current work – life balance friendly instruments in chosen scientific institutions. The authors discuss the role of the heads/directors of departments as they stand out as the most important factor when solving WLB dilemma. The basic information about WLB instruments in the Czech Republic is their non – institutional character. In the text, authors also present several solutions and approaches to WLB problematic as they were noticed during the mapping process.
