Bioinformatics (Dr. Jiří Vondrášek)

Bioinformatics Research-Service Team was established at IOCB at the beginning of the 2012 with the aim to establish national node of the European Infrastructure Project for biological data - ELIXIR. The uniqueness of the node will be based on long and outstanding history of biomedical research at the IOCB, namely in development of small drugs for therapeutical purposes, their in vitro tests as well as following clinical trials. The node is planned as central open access database of small molecules for medicinal purposes and their analysis utilizing methods of bioinformatics, cheminformatics and molecular modeling. Beside this major task the group has its own scientific projects spanning 3D prediction of proteins, protein folding, protein-protein interactions, protein design and structural bioinformatics utilizing statistical methods as well as advanced computational chemistry methods. The accented strategy is a tight connection with experiments namely thermodynamics methods for measurement of biomolecular affinity as well as recombinant expression techniques for purpose of de novo design of biomolecules.
