Topic Exploring helically chiral ligands in enantioselective transition metal catalysis

Abstract

The goal of the PhD thesis will be the study of enantioselective catalysis using helically chiral ligands. Enantioselective catalysis represents a challenge for organic synthesis in general and for developing helicene chemistry in particular. As there are only scattered examples of true helically chiral ligands used in enantioselective catalysis, we plan to explore the area in a systematic way. The project will focus on synthesising the novel helicene-based ligands in an optically pure form and applying them to the selected transition metal catalysed asymmetric reactions.
