Oldrich Schneeweiss completed study of solid state engineering at the Faculty of Nuclear and Physical Engineering of the Czech Technical University.
He received the scientific degree CSc. (candidate of sciences) at the Institute of Physical Metallurgy of the Czechoslovak Academy of Sciences in 1980. Postdoctoral fellowship he spent at the University of Saarland in Saarbrücken, Germany. The scientific degree DrSc. (doctor of sciences) he received at the Institute of Physics of Materials of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic in 1997. Since 1991 he has been leading laboratory of electric and magnetic properties. His main scientific interests are focused on experimental research of solids from the point of view of relations between structure, magnetic and transport properties. He has been specialized on applications of Mössbauer effect in material research. He was supervisor of several Diploma and PhD Thesis and investigator of projects supported by national and international grant agencies. He published over 160 papers in international journals with more than 700 citations.
