Kniha shrnuje dosavadní způsoby vysvětlení volební účasti a důvodů jejího poklesu a představuje vlastní teorii volební účasti, která ji vysvětluje v obecné rovině mobilizací vnějšími aktéry a individuální motivací k účasti (instrumentální, expresivní a normativní motivací). Tento teoretický model je využit nejen pro vysvětlení volební účasti, ale i jejího poklesu.

The chapter compares the development in four Central European parliaments in the second decade after the fall of communism. At the end of the first decade, the four parliaments could be considered as rather stabilised, functional, independent and internally organised institutions. Attention is paid particularly to the changing institutional context and pressure of ‘Europeanisation’, the changing party strengths, and the functional and political consequences of these changes.

Kapitola poskytuje přehled a vyhodnocení množství výzkumů zaměřených na studium veřejných politik a politických témat a realizovaných v České republice od roku 1990. Autor vyhodnocuje šetření volebního chování ve volbách do Poslanecké sněmovny, do Senátu a do regionální samosprávy. Kapitola také podává krátké pojednání o výzkumech exit-poll a panelových výzkumech.

The concepts of sustainability and governance form the conceptual underpinnings of the SGI’s two pillars, the Status Index and Management Index.

Publikace The Nexus Between Democracy, Collective Identity, Formation, and EU Enlargement je výsledkem pětileté mezinárodní spolupráce v rámci evropského výzkumného projektu „RECON – Reconstituting Democracy in Europe“ (RECON – Přetváření demokracie v Evropě) a prezentuje případové studie ze střední a východní Evropy, komparativní analýzy zaměřené na transformaci kolektivních identit ve středoevropském regionu v kontextu rozšiřování Evropské unie.

The chapter focuses on national and European identity and examines, whether Europe is united or still divides concerning the new European identity. First part outlines the multiple natures of identity and different types of territorial attachment; the second one examines the position of elites on European integration.
