PROJECT DETAILS
Name: Cladding-pumped erbium-ytterbium-doped fibres with asymmetric cross section
Sponsor: Czech Science Foundation
Principal investigator: Pavel Peterka, Ph.D.
From: 2002-09-01
To: 2005-08-31

The project is aimed at theoretical and experimental investigation of cladding-pumped erbium-ytterbium-doped optical fibres (EYDF) with novel method of coupling the pump into the inner cladding of the active fiber. For this purpose a specific cross section of the double-clad (DC) active fiber will be designed. A large signal, space and frequency resolved numerical model of the fibre will be developed to analyze the performance of the amplifier with the DC-EYDF and to optimize its parameters. The DC-EYDF fabricated according to the design will be tested in an experimental fibre amplifier and laser. The developed laboratory fibre amplifier module will be used mainly for the investigation of the hybrid optical amplifiers studied within the frame project.
