Analysis of Czechoslovak/Czech Contemporary History and History of Science
Institute of Contemporary History has been basically objected at a primary source research in Czech and Czechoslovak history during the era of two totalitarian regimes (1938–1989) as well as that following the collapse of communism (after 1989) and the history of science. In 2005–2010, the Institute would concentrate to their analysis, reconstruction and interpretation aimed to bring up their comparative survey, in particular by means of a broader synthetic historical study. The research work would be focused at consulting and research in declassified archive documents both in home and foreign archives, various personal estates as well as further sources, plus at oral history organisation. Being the sole specialised institution of its kind, the Institute would grant in further its irreplaceable tasks in the field of Czech and Czechoslovak history, too: namely documentation of present time, and critical editions of selected source complexes.
