The objective of this sociologically-oriented project is to encourage the development of the following processes: a) implementation of binding European standards for equal opportunities policies for men and women in various spheres of social life, b) political and civil acceptance of equal opportunities policies, c) social acceptance of these policies. The core of the project is the analysis of institutional, social and civil issues related to the position of women in Czech society.

V tomto čísle bychom se rády zaměřily na tématiku genderové identity a transgenderu. Jde přitom o téma, které se až donedávna vnímalo striktně jako lékařský problém, který je možno vyřešit úspěšnou „léčbou“. Již méně pozornosti bylo věnováno sociálním aspektům přechodu genderu, které mohou nabývat různých forem.
The chapter analyzes the curret position of highly qualified women, their life chances and prospects in the transforming society. It also deals wiht gender inequalities in the private sphere as well as the gender inequalities in the public sphere ů especially at work and in the politics.

The article analyzes gender inequalities on the labor market in the Czech Republic, wage differences between men and women, career prospects, etc. The theories of discrimination of women on the labor market are mentiond there.
Postavení českých žen na trhu práce, ženy v řídících pozicích a vztah rodiny a práce v jejich životě jsou hlavní témata tohoto dvojčísla čtvrtletníku Gender – rovné příležitosti – výzkum. Problematika genderových nerovností na trhu práce je nejen aktuální z hlediska projektů aktuálně řešených v týmu Gender & sociologie, ale i jako jedna z kapitol, které je třeba v současné české společnosti řešit a diskutovat i v rámci vstupu České republiky do Evropské unie.
The article starts a serie of texts 'Women in management' which aims to investigate the aspects of the position of women in management from gender perspective. Main goal of this text is to describe basic gender inequalities at work, to define gender equality and it's main obstacles in the work environment.
