Programmes focused on collaboration of the USA with other countries

National Science Foundation is an independent government organization, which was established in 1950. With a budget exceeding USD 7 billion per year it is one of major American science and research institutions. Its primary activities are targeted to the support of basic research and technical sciences, except medical sciences.

Collaboration with Czech partners may be supported by NSF via ‘supplemental funding‘, i.e. adequate funding of the already running project on the US side, if the Czech partner has been engaged and the US investigator (Principal Investigator) encounters new, unexpected costs.

NSF supports several types of collaboration-oriented programmes for American scientists, students and postdocs and their international partners (see pdf document “Potential collaboration”).
