Research into experimental methods for examination of the physical properties of matter and their application in advanced technologies

The research plan is oriented to applied physics and technical sciences, focussing on the methodology of acquiring spectral and pictorial information from atomic, molecular, and cellular structures, and of registration and processing of biosignals, together with selected applications in biology, medicine, and material science. Electron beams, generated, controlled, and detected by newly developed processes, will be used in the investigation of matter and in holographic phenomena, and applied to joining and micromachining of materials. Radiation of quantum light generators will create various types of optical traps for nondestructive manipulations with microobjects, and high–coherence lasers will be developed for metrology of optical frequencies and for interferometry. The abilities of nuclear magnetic resonance for the examination of living matter will be utilized and expanded by image contrast formation by laser–polarized noble gases, and by techniques of spectroscopic imaging.
